As part of the visit, the Youth Impact team toured Enukweni Community Day Secondary School (CDSS), where Ulalo has successfully established a computer lab to enhance digital literacy. The team also explored the Bike Rental Initiative, a project designed to provide students with affordable transportation options to and from school.
Speaking about the experience, Chimombo expressed her admiration for Ulalo’s approach to community-driven development.
“Seeing these projects in action has been truly inspiring. The integration of technology in education and the bike initiative are innovative solutions addressing real challenges in the community. We are excited to take lessons from this visit and explore how we can implement similar initiatives in our region,” she said.
Departmental Engagements and Knowledge Exchange
Youth Impact and Ulalo teams engage in a departmental knowledge sharing session.
Beyond field visits, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with various Ulalo departments, including Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), Accounts, Communications and Branding, as well as Programs, Governance, and Management. These sessions provided Youth Impact with a deeper understanding of how Ulalo operates, ensuring efficiency and sustainability in its interventions.
James Gondwe, Ulalo’s Executive Director, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving meaningful impact.
“Partnerships like these are crucial in the development sector. When organizations come together to share ideas, strategies, and challenges, we all grow stronger. We are thrilled to have hosted Youth Impact and look forward to more exchanges in the future,” he stated.
Driving Change Through Collaboration
The visit was not just an exchange of knowledge but also a reaffirmation of the power of collaboration in community development. By fostering dialogue and practical engagement, both organizations have paved the way for future partnerships that will strengthen their impact in Malawi.
As the visit concluded, a shared sense of optimism and commitment to empowering communities remained. Both Ulalo and Youth Impact Organization look forward to leveraging their learnings to refine their programs, ultimately improving the lives of the people they serve.
