about us and our work

U·la·lo

/Oo-lah-loh /

noun

1. Chichewa word for Bridge.

Founded in 2012, as Centre for Youth and Development, rebranded to Ulalo at the height of its tenth anniversary in 2022.

Ulalo tackles the challenge of children and youth failing to reach their educational potential. We do this by partnering with children and youth, their schools, communities and governments to design and deliver solutions that equip them with skills to attain further education, overcome gender inequities, start businesses, get jobs, and drive development in their communities.

Our vision

A society where children and young people, living in their full potential, are socially responsible and productive members of society.

  • Innovative: Creative organization, continually learning and impacting through new ideas.

  • Partnership: Thriving together.

  • Sustainability: Working in ways that benefits the present and future generations.

  • Integrity: Transparency and accountability are the bedrock of trust and the pillars of positive long-term relationships.
