Fostering Connections And Collaboration At The Segal Family Foundation Annual General Meeting 2023
In the heart of Kigali, Rwanda, at the magnificent Kigali Convention Centre, Ulalo proudly participated in the Segal Family Foundation's Annual General Meeting held at the Kigali Convention Centre, in Rwanda from 13th – 14th July 2023. Represented by our Founder and Executive Director, James Gondwe, this event marked a significant milestone for our organization. As we delve into the details of this remarkable experience, we share the excitement of reconnecting with our philanthropic partners and forging new collaborations in the wake of a post-pandemic world.
The 2023 Annual General Meeting was a reunion of individuals and organizations committed to driving positive change across the African continent. It had been a long-awaited moment since the last physical AGM held in 2019, disrupted by the challenges posed by the global pandemic. However, this meeting was worth the wait. The Segal Family Foundation ecosystem is a hub of doers and donors, a place where passion meets purpose. It provided us with a unique opportunity to network, share insights, and establish meaningful connections with like-minded individuals and organizations. The importance of such gatherings cannot be overstated in the context of driving sustainable change and development in Africa.
The pre-summit events included the African Visionary Fellowship in-person engagements. Notably, our Executive Director, James Gondwe, was part of this prestigious fellowship, having been chosen as one of the 15 African visionaries in 2022. During the in-person engagements, he had the chance to share his vision, learn from others, and collaborate on innovative projects. Following his journey through the fellowship, James proudly graduated, joining the esteemed alumni community.
The summit itself was an enriching and enlightening experience. It featured a wide array of topics and experiences; each designed to inspire and catalyze change. For Ulalo, it was a chance to reconnect with existing partners, strengthen relationships, and explore opportunities for growth and collaboration. One of the notable highlights was our meeting with Team4Tech, where we discussed our ongoing partnership and explored new avenues for collaboration.
The Segal Family Foundation staff, fellow visionaries and consultants that we have interacted with before added an extra layer of warmth and camaraderie to the event. It was heartwarming to reunite with familiar faces from Malawi and the region, individuals who share our commitment to making a difference in the lives of people across Africa. These connections are not just professional; they are personal bonds that further cement our dedication to the causes we champion.
As we look back on this experience, we are grateful for the opportunity to engage with our partners, both old and new, in person. The power of these gatherings lies not only in the discussions but also in the relationships forged and the collaborations initiated. We are excited about the future and remain steadfast in our commitment to driving positive change. Together, we can make a difference, one partnership at a time.
