Ulalo 2023 Staff Retreat fostering Unity, Strategy, and Fun
Sounds of fascinating waves from the magnificent lake Malawi at Chatonda Lodge in Nkhatabay set the mood for Ulalo's 2023 staff retreat, bringing together 24 hardworking team members with a mission to review the year, plan for the upcoming year and team building.
The retreat commenced with a comprehensive review of the year, analyzing milestones, and strategizing for the future. Among the pivotal discussions were sessions focusing on Ulalo's 2030 Strategy, organizational culture, Safeguarding, and internal policies.
James Gondwe, Executive Director for Ulalo emphasized the significance of the new strategy, describing it as a game changer.
"Our 2030 Strategy embodies our commitment to transformative change, enabling us to meet evolving challenges and make impactful strides toward our mission." Said Gondwe.
Ulalo’s Schools Performance Officer, Grivin Mpoha, shared his perspective, highlighting the enlightening nature of the sessions.
"The retreat sessions have been incredibly enlightening, broadening our horizons and fostering a deeper understanding of our collective purpose," said Grivin.
Evenings at the retreat unfolded with fireside chats, fostering team bonding through lighter conversations, puzzles, and team-building activities. As the sun set on each day of the retreat, these moments strengthened connections of the team, transcending the confines of work-related discussions.
Beach soccer, volleyball, music, and dance were other activities that were conducted during the retreat, creating an atmosphere of celebration. These activities weren’t merely leisure; they were reminders of the importance of balance between professional endeavors and personal well-being.
Amid the array of activities, one highlight stood out—the 'Read it, Act it Out' game led by Mphatso Kalambo, another Schools Performance Officer. This unique game added a touch of creativity and mission alignment to Ulalo’s team interactions.
Participants would pick a note with a word and then act it out for others to guess. What made this game exceptional was Mphatso's selection of words, well aligned to Ulalo’s mission.
As the morning golden hour waved the participants goodbye on the final day, the 3-day retreat left each team member empowered and invigorated, ready to contribute their utmost towards organizational goals.
