Hope for Change, BEFIT Excites Mzimba North DIT
The Mzimba North District Implementation Team of the Building Education Foundation Through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) has expressed contentment over the implementation progress of the transformative project, bringing hope for change in the district.
During a recent monitoring visit of 6 primary schools - Rukuru, Kazuni, Tchesamu, Changoma, Chavirwa, and Kabwafu, the DIT members observed the project's impact firsthand. BEFIT, which has been introduced in 36 schools across Mzimba North, aims to enhance learning outcomes in reading and numeracy for students in standard 1 to 4 through the supplementary use of tablets.
Following the monitoring visit, Rachel Mziya, representing the Chief Education Officer for Mzimba North Education District, expressed her satisfaction with the project's implementation in the district. "I witnessed students confidently utilizing the tablets to solve mathematics problems and engage with various subjects. This progress is promising and is expected to positively influence their overall learning experience," stated Mziya.
Yewo Msiska, the Programs Lead at Ulalo, echoed Mziya's sentiment, emphasizing the role of teamwork and active community involvement in the project's success. "The progress of the project can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders. It is this strong community participation and teamwork that will ensure the project's seamless continuation," Msiska emphasized.
On his part, Ian Nyangulu, the Headteacher at Tchesamu Primary School, expressed his gratitude for the community's dedication and support for the BEFIT program. "BEFIT's impact at Tchesamu is a result of the strong partnership between Ulalo, the Ministry of Education, and our community. Their guidance and support motivate us to go the extra mile in achieving our educational goals," Nyangulu remarked.
Nyangulu further added, "The community's proactive involvement in ensuring the project's success is truly inspiring. I am confident that BEFIT is a significant game-changer for our education system."
Meanwhile, the DIT for Mzimba South is scheduled to conduct a similar tour later this week.
Ulalo is part of a consortium implementing the six-year Malawi Government Project, BEFIT, aimed at revolutionizing the education sector.
